London Overground - North London Line
The North London Line became part of London Overground on 11th November 2007, when it took over from Silverlink Metro. It operates from Stratford to Richmond and Clapham Junction, via the inner northern suburbs of the city. The origins of the line date back to 1865, when the North London Railway opened its terminus at Broad Street, which was situated along the west side of Liverpool Street station. In this video we see the line as it was in the 1970’s as part of British Rail, through to the present day. We see the rolling stock change from class 501 EMU’s to 2 EPB’S, class 313’s and finally to class 378 Electrostars. The line is shared with intensive freight services which are also well covered. For a time, the line was extended to North Woolwich, and this section is seen in operation before it was converted to become part of the Docklands Light Railway and the Elizabeth Line.
